Straightforward, easy to use. Questions remain over availabilty. Not always esy to find refills. make sure you take what you need with you. We used one and a bit for a family of four over two days, so don't last that long. Cooker is fantastic and very convenient. Are trialling this on a full week's camping soon, so will see.

Coleman 1lb Propane cannister

Disposable 1 lb propane cylinder - what is there to say? Has proprietary fitting for appliances so no EN417 conversion adapters. Propane freezes at -42 deg C so excellent in winter. Butane (and mixes with propane) has a higher calorific value - more heat for the same weight of gas, but does not hack it when the temperature dips.Not advertising, but there are available refilling adapters for this that couple to large propane tanks e.g. red calor gas ones. Why? Saves landfill and costs less. But of course you need to buy these first.

Best for camping

Used this daily for camping for 2 weeks so really put it through its paces. Emptied almost 4 bottles in this time.Grill part coped well with toast, kebabs, steaks, sausages, searing veg, fish (cooked on foil) etc. which worked just like a bbq. Some uneven hot spots. As the instructions state NOT to use a pan of any sorts on this side we could really have done with the flat plate (available in the US I believe) in addition to the slotted grill so that we could cook bacon, eggs, veg etc.Gas ring is quite small so would struggle to accommodate pans over 20cm diameter.No problems in wind, new bottles easy to fit. Below grill area is best fitted with fresh foil regularly to keep cleaning to a minimum. Fat drain with collection tray is excellent. Idiot-proof to use & packs up neatly.Only gripe is that the bottle is held in position behind the stove, thus off the edge of our folding cooker table!

Almost perfect.

I bought this stove for camping and the occasional barbecue, it is great for both. I usually camp alone with my dog, and had one of those cheap single burner stoves, but (after being inspired by that campervan bloke cooking on telly!) I decided to get something better.I searched around for days online, weighing up all the pros and cons and then went to my local camping showroom, seeing the stoves I'd been contemplating in the flesh. It seems that other than Coleman's stoves, you're fairly limited if (like me) you don't want to carry a large metal gas bottle around. I really wanted one of those with two burners and a grill below, and decided this was going to be the best compromise, so ordered one from Amazon.I shouldn't have worried. All the Coleman products I own (I have a tent, chair and sleeping bag) are of the highest quality and this stove is no exception. It looks and feels very sturdy (it's bigger than it looks in the photo -- about the size of two single burners in their cases), and the grill plate is nice and hefty. It all packs away very neatly, and doesn't need a case as the blue-metal cover protects everything. Once the bottle is connected (so easy to do I didn't need to read the instructions), the flames that spark up are very powerful, like a gas hob at home rather than the weak flames I was used to on my single burner stove.Cooking some burgers on the grill was a doddle, and I also toasted the buns lightly. They tasted great! Just like a barbecued burger! )) Like others have said, the fat is easy to clean up using tin-foil below and there is also a little tray to catch liquid fat.On the downside, one of the things that was putting me off buying this stove was that I read several reviews online that say the grill can warp if you use pans or especially a griddle on the actual grill side! I'm not going to risk it, though it seems some people do. Even if the grill doesn't melt, though, it's made of none-stick teflon, and anything metal will wear this away.It doesn't really matter to me. Two small pans (or one small pan and a small kettle) easily fit onto the single burner (I think this is why it is so wide), though if you're cooking for more than two you'll probably only be able to use one pan at a time. For me this is almost perfect. I probably won't use the grill all the time (it seems to use more gas, so I'll just use it for grilling main meals and making toast -- use toastie bread, it'll work fine), but it is great that it is there. My only other problem -- not a fault of this stove -- is that you can't buy the flat griddle plate in the UK (which would have been nice) and believe me I have searched everywhere for one. They do have them on Amazon in America, and will ship them to the UK, though I'll wait and see if I really need one before shelling out for international shipping.All in all I'm very happy with my purchase. If you do need something a little more, then I've seen Outwell do a similar stove with two burners and a smaller grill. I'm more than happy, though, and can't wait to get camping this year now!UPDATE:Been camping with it now and put it through its paces. Have to say it is great!! It grills things well, but make sure you cut food into strips (about 2cm high) and they will grill very quickly. Done chicken (for curry and with BBQ sauce marinade, burgers and salmon steaks). Lovely! Have also used it several times now BBQ-ing at home and it is so much better than charcoal BBQ's. The taste is very similar (nice and scorched!) and this is so much easier to fire up and clean afterwards. Perfect for a home or campsite BBQ.

Great product!

Took this camping on my own with my kids. It was great. Can make toast and do bacon on the griddle with aluminium foil underneath to catch the drips etc. Can also put a large saucepan or frying pan on the griddle section so you can still use 2 saucepans if you need to. Very versatile. Only used one gas canister for 3 days away.The way that the gas canister just hovers with no support is a little unnerving - I wish they had designed it a better. I took it off each time I had finished cooking as the canister shouldn't be in direct sunlight, and the joints etc all just felt a bit delicate.If you are nervous about gas leaks you should buy the gas leak detection gel that they mention in the instructions. I didn't use it - the gas won't come on if you haven't got it screwed on properly.

Compact and Fast

A friend bought this compact stove so he could carry it in a utility pouch when camping or when doing mountain rescue type work. Had the pleasure of watching him use it to boil water for a lovely cup of tea at a recent event. He also used it to cook tinned food.The quality and way the items fit together is brilliant. The 1 litre pot which is supplied comes with a padded piece of material to prevent the non-stick surface being scratched. Once the small lid comes off you can take out the burner and gas fuel tank which all fit inside it.Fits together very easily - the burner screws on and off (can be removed again after cooking unlike the 1980s style Camping Gaz stove I have)the gas cannister securely. Then fit the half windshield on. Fill the litre pot with the food or water you want to heat. The heat exhanger "grill type" extensions at the bottom of the pot then fit down securely over the burner head so the flame is enclosed. Turn on the gas valve below the burner. The electric ignition switch is built in so no more messing about with matches or lighters to light the gas. The water boiled very quickly and the food heated easily too with the non stick surface preventing any sticking. Very easy to rinse clean. We used it where there was flat ground. It was tall but stable due to the base and weight of the gas cannister.However my friend had also bought the Primus Foot Rest Primus Foot Restwhich clips onto the underside of the gas cannister to provide more stability on uneven ground or on a windy day. This footrest folds out and in and can be easily carried in the mesh sack outside the cooker.Comes in a stuff /mesh sack which is easily carried inside a military surplus ammunition pouch or a utility pouch with MOLLE fittings which can be attached to the outside of a daypack with those straps onHighlander Tomahawk Special Operations 35 Litre Back Pack Tactical Black or in the outside pocket of a larger rucksack.Very impressed with the quality, ease of use and compactness of the Primus Etapower system.I have purchased the larger Primus EtaPower EF stove Primus ETA Power EF Stove which has a larger 2.1 litre cooking pot supplied. There are a range of other sized pots also available separately which all have the heat exchanger fitting at the bottom. The 1.2 l Primus Eta Power Pot 1.2Lis good because it has a built in handle and a lid with collander type holes to drain out water after you have cooked pasta or noodles. These larger pots should also fit on the EtaPower Express stove but you might have to remove the half windshield from around the burner?

Brilliant!

The Primus Eta Express is the best stove I've owned. It's light, compact, stable with a very fast boil time. On short trips the smaller gas cartridge makes it very light indeed, but the bigger cartridge is good for several days. I have no complaints and there will be very little between this and its rivals. It matches them in cost and beats them in looks and performance. Quite brilliant.

Unbeatable performance and value

This lantern is one of those things that I never go camping or traveling without. It is highly compact and lightweight, yet rugged and tough enough to withstand being dropped, splashed with water etc. It kicks out an incredible amount of light from the four AAA batteries it uses. Everywhere I've been people have commented on how bright the light is, and the huge area it will light when hung using the metal hooks on the top. I find I generally get a good 25+ hours out of a new set of decent quality disposable batteries, which is more than enough for a long weekend. However, you may also want to consider investing in rechargeable Duracell batteries for the lantern too - the high output ones are just as good as disposables, and considerably better value than the official Black Diamond rechargeable battery pack. I cannot recommend this light highly enough.

Not for Some Caravans

According to the operating instructions "This regulator is not for use in caravans and motor caravans". Just guessing here - "rain must be preventing from entering the device". Or possibly that since Sept 2003 all caravans must run at 30mbars pressure, this being the old standard of 37mbars.New info:-Seller says "this regulator is approved to the standard EN12864:2001, which under Annex D, states that this regulator is not approved for use in moving vehicles".I've looked this up. "New caravan and motor home regulations. BS EN 1949:2002 requires regulators (to BS EN 12864:2001 Annex D) to be fitted within gas lockers in new caravans and motor homes(from September 2003)."So it looks like you're ok before Sept 2003 so long as you keep it dry.

good for cookers

This cartridge would work great with most single burner cookers (freestanding type) I would think. I prefer the shape of the coleman ones with my lanterns but that is personal preference. A good product. Screw top.
